Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) is a behavior management approach developed for children with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The CPS approach—originated by Dr. Ross W. Greene in his book, The Explosive Child (1998; 2001; 2005; 2010), then described again in a later book for mental health clinicians (Treating Explosive Kids, 2006) and for educators in his latest book Lost at School (2008, 2010)—views behavioral challenges as a form of developmental delay and seeks to create fundamental changes in interactions between kids with behavioral challenges and their adult caregivers.
