Plot summary

Jimmy Riddle, the boss and antagonist of Alan Banks, is begging Banks to look for his daughter who has left her home to go to London. The search for the young girl is the start of a series of tragic events connected with the Riddle family with Banks as a reluctant key player. At the same time Banks and his colleagues are looking into the murders of a number of petty criminals involved in smuggling. In the background is the dodgy impressario Brian Clough, also connected to the Riddle family, luring.
