 line some 24 kilometres (14.9 mi) long which climbs 633 metres (2,077 ft) between the two towns in its title. The railway had been an independent company (YSteC) until 2001 and is now part of the TRAVYS - Transports Vallée-de-Joux - Yverdon-les-Bains - Sainte-Croix S.A..

History

The line was opened in 1893 using steam locomotives for its traction and operated a six days a week service over the line, because the main sponsor of the line was a fervent catholic and demanded a ban on Sundays' trains for the first 25 years. In 1918 the line began operations on Sundays.

The line was electrified at in 1945.
