 in 1802. He was a judge of the New Haven County Court from 1816-87, sheriff of New Haven

from 1820-34, and then again a County Court judge from 1836-37. He became Lieutenant Governor in 1850 and succeeded to the governorship in 1853. He did not seek re-election. Pond died in 1861 and is buried in Milford Cemetery. He is memorialized on the Milford Founding Fathers Memorial in Milford.
