Charles Henry John Benedict Crofton Chetwynd Chetwynd-Talbot, 22nd Earl of Shrewsbury, 7th Earl Talbot and 22nd Earl of Waterford (born 18 December 1952) is the son of the 21st Earl of Shrewsbury - Died 12th November 1980 and the former Nadine Crofton (Died 2005).

On 5th January 1973 he married Deborah Hutchinson, daughter of Noel Staughton Hutchinson and Jennifer Hutchinson of Ellerton, Shropshire. He has since had three children:
  • Lady Victoria Chetwynd-Talbot (b. 7 September 1975). Married Daniel Goodall; has one child, Charlie Goodall
  • James, Viscount Ingestre (b. 11 January 1978). Married Polly Blackie; has three children:
    • The Hon. Matilda Chetwynd-Talbot (b.3 Nov 2008)
    • The Hon. Rose Chetwynd-Talbot (b.2010)
    • The Hon. Flora Chetwynd-Talbot (b.b. 30 Sep 2011)
  • The Hon. Edward Chetwynd-Talbot (b. 18 September 1981). Married Rosie Myers of Scamblesby, Lincolnshire in 2010.


In May 2011, the Earl of Shrewbury was nominated to follow The Earl Ferrers in 2012 as Grand Prior of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem in England and Wales.

Lord Shrewsbury sits in The House of Lords as one of the remaining Elected Hereditary Peers of Parliament and takes the Conservative Whip.He is a Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Stafford and is involved either as a Patron or Hon. President of a number of Charitable bodies. He is currently Hon. President of The Gun Trade Association, Hon. President of The Britsh Shooting Sports Council (BSSC), and Deputy Chairman of The Standing Conference on Country Sports, and is a keen shot and fly fisher.

Lord Shrewsbury is a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Weavers, also of The Worshipful Company of Gunmakers, and The Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths. He is a member of the Army & Navy Club and Pratts Club.

Lord Shrewsbury and his family live near Ashbourne in Derbyshire - but the house is a few yards into Staffordshire.
