The Center for Integrated Media is a new media arts initiative located within the California Institute of the Arts
.
Graduate students from any of the CalArts' six schools can enroll "in order to integrate multiple media and disciplines into new forms of expression." The Center is designed as an interdisciplinary learning environment that supports "a wide range of projects involving performative and environmental installations, video, sound, music, robotics, gaming, programming, interactivity, computer graphics and Internet art." Applications to the Center are processed through the applying student's metier. Each applicant is required to provide an Artist Statement that explains the basis of their work, details their experience working with new forms of media and expresses their interest in the Center for Integrated Media.
The Center was started in the early 1990s and is one of the longest running new media arts initiatives in the U.S. The Director of the Center for Integrated Media is Tom Leeser.
