Cathay United Bank is formed by the merger of United World Chinese Commercial Bank and Cathay United Bank, both are the 100%-owned subsidiaries of Cathay Financial Holding Company. United World Chinese Commercial Bank is the Surviving Company but the merged bank is re-named under Cathay United Bank, effective on October 27, 2003.

Current status

Cathay United is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan and doing business throughout Taiwan with more than 108 branches providing 4 major product lines: corporate banking, consumer banking, wealth management and credit card. Currently there are 8 overseas offices located in China, South East Asia Region and United States.
