All current and past Catalan Presidents (Presidents de la Generalitat) and Catalonia's Parliament Presidents, as well as all major political parties in Catalonia adhered to the march without exception, together with societies ranging from soccer's FC Barcelona up to finance lobby Cercle d'Economia. The march was headed with the lemma "Som una Nació. Nosaltres Decidim" (We are a Nation. We decide). The march was replicated in smaller portions by Catalan nationals living abroad, like those held in London, Brussels, Vienna, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, among others.

Despite the original march claimed for the respect of the Catalan Autonomy, a majority of the participants openly waved their Independence flags 'Estelada', with a smaller amount with official flag 'la Senyera'. This partly translates in the largest march ever for the Independence of Catalonia as a democratic and single country,,.

In the days following the protest, Catalan political authorities recognized the march as a historical landmark after which political relations between Catalonia and Spain ought to be set in other grounds, including Independence in case the catalan people considered so,.
