. It opened to serve students in the Douglas County School District in August 2006.

Campus

Castle View High School occupies a two-story building with over 70 classrooms designed by H+L/LKA Architects. The campus is located within the Meadows community.

Students

For its first year of operation, Castle View only served ninth and tenth grade students. During the 2007-2008 school year, eleventh grade students joined the student body. It is now at full capacity, operating ninth, tenth, eleventh, and now twelfth grades at the start of the 2008-2009 school year.
The first graduating class from Castle View High School graduated at the Red Rocks Amphitheater on May 22, 2009.

While operating below its grade capacity during the 2007-2008 school year, a portion of the school building was used as overflow classroom space for around 300 students from Castle Rock Middle School. It has since stopped serving this purpose in the 2008-2009 school year with the new Mesa Middle School constructed over the summer of 2008.

Extracurricular activities

In the 2005-2006 school year, Castle View's football team played in the 3A Central Metro League (football home page). As of the 2008-2009 school year, most sports competed in the 4A Continental League.
Football competed in the 4A Foothills Conference. Presently Castle View sports has moved up to 5A in all sports except for Football who will also move up soon.

Castle View has graduated to hosting almost all sports teams, (excluding boy's swimming, girl's lacrosse, gymnastics, and ice hockey).
Extracurricular activities presently offered at the school include a theatre group, ACT OUT!, a student newspaper, The View, and a school news station known as CVTV.

Curriculum

Castle View is the third high school in Douglas County to offer Chinese in its foreign language courses, although it has since been discontinued. American Sign Language and Japanese are also offered.
CVHS is also the first high school in Colorado to offer unique and specialized groupings of classes, referred to as academies.
At the present there are five: Math, Science and Engineering (MSE), Biotech & Health Sciences (BHS), Leadership & Global Communication (LGC), E-Media & Business (EMB), and Visual and Performing Arts (VPA).
