Captain Underpants and the Big, Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy is the first two-part story of Captain Underpants
Captain Underpants
Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey is a series of American children's books about two fourth graders, George Beard and Harold Hutchins, and the aptly named superhero they accidentally create by hypnotizing their principal, Mr. Benny Krupp...

book series. Both books count as the sixth and seventh novels in the titles.

Part 1

At demonstration speech day, George Beard and Harold Hutchins show off a new prank of theirs, the Squishy. The idea is to place ketchup packets under a toilet seat so the next person who sits on the toilets gets ketchup sprayed all over the back of their legs (or the front, if they push down the toilet seat while standing in front of it). Everyone (even the teacher, Ms. Ribble, who had got hypnotized by George and Harold) wants to try it out, but Melvin Sneedly, the bossy nerd from Book 2, forces everyone to watch his show demonstration, which is a combining machine called the Combine-o-Tron 2000. Using his hamster, Sulu, and a robotic hamster body he built, Melvin combines the two look-a-likes so Sulu is now a bionic hamster and enjoys the special powers given to him by the robot. Melvin tries to order Sulu to do some tricks for the class, but Sulu does not obey Melvin, acting like a normal hamster. Melvin threatens to hit Sulu with a ping pong paddle, and instead Sulu paddles Melvin. Melvin yells that he doesn't want Sulu anymore and runs off crying (and everyone, including their teacher, Miss Ribble run behind shouting "Squishies!" excitedly while running down the hall fast). After noticing this, George and Harold adopt Sulu.

Miss Ribble uses a Squishy on Mr. Krupp, who believes George and Harold did it (despite Miss Ribble's confession). Melvin tattles on George and Harold for the Squishy. Mr. Krupp becomes angry and sends George and Harold to detention which angers the two boys. They decide to get revenge on Melvin, by making a Captain Underpants comic book starring him as a boy who became the mayor after stopping a crook. He creates lots of laws, and lots of people are sent to jail. The jails are all full, so Melvin creates a robotic jail, and poking fun at his tattletale habit. He captures a few people who had broke his strange laws. Captain Underpants comes to save the day, and pours a giant container of plum juice into the robotic jail(which is said to make you poop), and the robot jail poops the prisoners out, and Captain Underpants puts Melvin in jail. Finally, when Melvin becomes the victim of a Squishy, he decides to get his revenge on the boys.

Melvin goes home and builds a super-powered robot. His idea is to combine himself with the robot with the Combine-o-tron so he will have super powers like Sulu, that way he can get revenge on George and Harold. Unfortunately, Melvin sneezes at the last second because he is allergic to his family's pet cat, who had been sleeping on his bed earlier, (unfortunately), and gets combined with the robot and boogers, turning him into the Bionic Booger Boy, a larger version of Melvin made of the robot and large amounts of boogers.

Melvin soon sees the good side of being the Bionic Booger Boy as he becomes the star football player (no one wants to tackle him because he's covered in boogers) and ace volleyball server (no-one wants to hit a volley from him back) and even his own drinking fountain(because his snot drips onto the drinking fountain). Cold and flu season comes, however, and Melvin begins to act differently, producing sneezes that cover large areas in snot, and speaking like a monster. When the class visits a tissue factory, Melvin becomes gigantic and evil as a natural defense against the tissues, mainly because the owner of the factory wanted to give them free tissue packs as a gift, and started throwing tissue packs at Melvin, but this only angers Melvin, because he hates tissues,(which he calls "bad magic") and violently destroys the factory.

George turns Mr. Krupp into Captain Underpants to save the day. He saves his secretary, Edith Anthrope, from the Bionic Booger Boy, and she gives him some wet kisses as thanks. The water from the kisses turns him back into Mr. Krupp, and he is eaten up by Melvin. Then Melvin goes for George and Harold. But Sulu comes in to save the day and defeats Melvin using large size novelty items from warehouses.

Tanquerder and Amy Sneedly, Melvin's parents come in and pledge to try to help turn their son back to normal. George's suggestion, reversing the batteries in the Combine-o-Tron 2000, surprisingly works, and Melvin and Mr. Krupp are brought back, with three robotic booger globs flying off. However, Mr. Krupp and Melvin start acting strange, with Mr. Krupp claiming credit for building the Combin-o-tron 2000, and saying, "You guys are so immature!", and Melvin tries to put George and Harold in detention. Then the booger globs come to life, and smash the Combine-o-tron. The first part of the story ends with the Robo-Boogers chasing George, Harold, Mr. Krupp, Melvin and Sulu.

Part 2

The second book picks up moments after the last one ended. The three robo-boogers chase the four heroes until they come to a dead end. They are about to destroy them when Sulu swallows them and then spits them into outer space. As everyone prepares to go home, it becomes obvious that there was a mistake with the Combine-o-Tron, and now Melvin and Mr. Krupp have switched bodies. After a number of incidents, George and Harold discover the mix up. Melvin (in Krupp's body) is renamed "Mr. Melvin" and Mr. Krupp (in Melvin's body) becomes "Kruppy the Kid". Understanding the present situation, Kruppy the Kid orders Mr. Melvin to build another Combine-o-tron, but it will take six months. George suggests making a time machine to go back in time and get the first Combine-o-tron(which Melvin says only takes a day or two to finish).

Struck with what was originally George's idea, Mr. Melvin snaps his fingers. As a result, Kruppy the Kid becomes Captain Underpants, his alter ego and superpowers somehow following Mr. Krupp into Melvin. George and Harold are forced to tell the secret of Captain Underpants to Mr. Melvin, who subsequently plans to use the Combine-o-tron to get back into his own body, and keep Captain Underpants's powers. He assigns George and Harold to create a comic book about him, and sets to work building the time machine.

The next day, Mr. Melvin is furious to discover that George and Harold's comic book has him looking uncool. Mr. Melvin then shows them the time machine, and explains to George and Harold that they must be careful with the time machine, because if it's used two days in a row, some unknown bad thing will happen. He also equips them with For-get-chama-call-it, and a fake Combine-O-Tron 2000. George and Harold go back in time two days and retrieve the Combine-o-Tron after it gets Melvin and Mr. Krupp back, but before it is smashed. This is done thanks to the use of the short term memory-erasing machine, the Forget-chama-call-it on Melvin's parents.

They go back to the time machine in the library, where the librarian Miss Singerbrains steals the Combin-o-tron and the Forget-chama-call-it, going to the police. The boys go back in time and get a Quetzalcoatlus

(Harold calls it "Crackers", but George states there's no time to call it a name), then go back to the moment when Miss Singerbrains stole their stuff, then get their machines back thanks to Crackers. Miss Singerbrains is convinced she is dreaming because dinosaurs don't exist. Harold goes to return Crackers back to his own time, then they erase Miss Singerbrains's memory and go back to their own time.

Meanwhile, Kruppy the Kid, as Captain Underpants, has been getting into trouble by doing stuff like preventing the school football team from winning an important game by stealing the ball, which he mistakes for a UFO. He also destroys the skateboards of three skaters, and tries to rescue a cat from a tree. This backfires as Kruppy the Kid leaves two ladies he was trying to help across the street in the tree. The football team, the skaters, and the old ladies are now mad at Kruppy the Kid. Mr. Melvin gets Captain Underpants to come to them. He uses the Combine-o-Tron to switch them, so Melvin and Mr. Krupp are back in their own bodies.

Meanwhile, in space, Carl, Trixie, and Frankenbooger land onto a spaceship that was examining Uranus, where the robot and the toilets from book 2

are. They hang onto the spaceship as the spaceship goes back to Earth(because Ground Control thinks the mission is too strange, after the astronauts realize there are three smooshed objects on the back of the shuttle). Once on Earth, they start destroying the spaceship center. Captain Underpants goes off to help, but he crashes into the parking lot, and discovers that his superpowers were taken by Melvin, who refuses to help unless George and Harold change the comic book about him.

Captain Underpants, despite the fact that he doesn't have super-powers, decides to go after the robo-boogers. George and Harold follow him. They initially lose to the robo-boogers, but figure out that the robo-boogers die when they come into contact with oranges (the vitamin C

in the oranges counteracts against the cold that made the boogers). This way, they beat Carl, but Trixie & Frankenbooger become cautious and dodge the oranges. Captain Underpants defeats the Robo-Boogers by standing on top of John's House of Toilets (the top of the store is a giant toilet lid) and doing an annoying dance. The robo-boogers start to climb up the building, when they get hit by a well-placed Squishy,(which was put under the toilet seat of the giant toilet novelty item) with boxes of oranges in place of the ketchup packs.

Soon George and Harold have to answer questions for the Eyewitness News

crew, but Melvin comes and lies to the Eyewitness News crew, saying he beat the Robo-Boogers with his super-powers. George and Harold sneak back to the school while Melvin tries to force Captain Underpants to bow down to him. George and Harold return with the Combine-o-Tron and the Forgetchamacallit. They change Melvin and Captain Underpants so Captain Underpants has his powers again, then they erase the memories of the news crew and the TV audience.

Melvin wails about how he's not a superhero anymore, and gets his comeuppance when the people Captain Underpants bugged while he was in Melvin's body come back for revenge on him. When George and Harold return to their clubhouse, George learns that Harold did not take Crackers back to the dinosaur age, but is keeping him as a pet, like Sulu. The next day, George, Harold, Sulu and Crackers go into the time machine to send Crackers back home, despite Melvin's warning to let it cool down the day after it is used. The book ends with them starting the time machine, and something bad happening, setting the scene for Captain Underpants and the Preposterous Plight of the Purple Potty People
