History

The hospital was founded as California Hospital in 1887 by Dr. Walter Lindley and two other physicians. In response to a growing number of uninsured patients, CHMC partnered with HealthCare Partners

to increase the coordination and thus efficiency of care. Since joining forces with HealthCare Partners, best care protocols have been followed with near 100% compliance, resulting in a reduction of pneumonia, heartfailure readmission, and acute care readmission for patients 64 and older.
