Geography

Calfreisen has an area, , of 5.2 km² (2 sq mi). Of this area, 49.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 30% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.7% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (18.8%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).

The municipality is located in the Schanfigg sub-district of the Plessur district. It is on the north slope of the Schanfigg mountain.
