History

CKYL originally began broadcasting in 1954 at 630 AM, until it moved to its current AM 610 kHz frequency in the late 1950s or early 60s. The station is also heard via a number of FM translators in various communities in northern Alberta

Rebroadcasters

On May 30, 2011, Peace River Broadcasting applied to add a new FM transmitter at Manning, Alberta

 to rebroadcast the programs of CKYL. If approved, the new transmitter will operate at 93.3 MHz. On October 17, 2011, Peace River Broadcasting received CRTC approval to operate a new transmitter at Manning, Alberta on 93.3 MHz.
