. Prior to acting he tried out for the Brooklyn Dodgers farm team, the Montreal Royals, as a shortstop. However, his small stature (5'5") prevented him from being signed.

Upon his retirement he and his wife Rosemary ran a magic shop in Los Angeles called Fun-N-Stuff. As of 2009, Gorman was living in a retirement home in Rochester, NY.

He died on April 1, 2010 in Webster, New York at the age of 88.
