 in 1977 with an area of 8 acres (3.2 ha) and included 60 contributing buildings. The district is located in the area around Buckingham Square Park.

The district boundaries were increased in 1982 to add one more contributing building on an 0.9 acre (0.3642174 ha) area. The added building was designed by George Zunner and was built in 1907.
