 acquired in February 2010). Buck is a unit within ACS’ Human Resource Services (HRS) line of business. In addition to consulting and shared services, the HRS line of business includes benefits administration, learning services, and human resource outsourcing services (HRO).

 by George B. Buck, Sr., as an actuarial firm in 1916, today the firm has more than 80 locations worldwide through a network of offices and affiliates in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa.

Buck remained an independent organization until 1997 when it was acquired by Mellon Financial. The Buck Consultants brand name was scrapped in late 2003 when Mellon unified various business lines under the name Mellon Human Resource & Investor Solutions (HR&IS). ACS acquired Mellon’s HR business in 2005, and as one of its first significant business decisions, reintroduced the Buck Consultants brand.
