After that Clifford decided to dedicate his life to becoming one of the first great players in the Mexican league and would later go on to become a great Manager and board member for the club. The club's main source of economical support came from the Club Británico, a British sports club in Mexico City, which was founded in 1899, and would have its games in the club's multifunctional park which sat in front of the club's headquarters.

The club along with Reforma Athletic Club would trade players a day before a match in order to fill each club's rosters and that was how Clifford became involved in the establishment of Reforma Athletic Club in 1902. This brotherhood was mainly due to the clubs British roots.

The club was accustom to wearing elegant uniforms claiming that the sport and good taste weren't that different. At half time the clubs would drink tea in tables that had been set at the sidelines and were accompanied by beautiful women.
