Products

BridgeHead Software offers solutions to help hospitals, worldwide, overcome challenges stemming from rising data volumes and increasing storage costs while enabling the access, sharing, management and protection of critical electronic patient information.

It offers 3 key products:

BH MediSafe® which uses a combination of backup and archiving technologies to provide a total data protection and disaster recovery solution for both clinical and administrative data across a hospital;

BH MediStore™ which offers an enterprise healthcare data repository for the accessing, sharing and management of both clinical images such as DICOM data for radiology PACS and non-clinical images such as scanned patient documents;

BH OfficeStore™ which offers an enterprise healthcare data repository for the accessing, sharing and management of office and administration data covering e.g. email, documents, spreadsheets and presentations through to SharePoint data.

Customers

BridgeHead Software currently estimates a customer base of in excess of 1,000 hospitals worldwide, consisting of both private and public healthcare facilities. The largest proportion of customers currently reside in the United States, followed by the United Kingdom. However, the base continues to grow outside of these territories with hospitals in mainland Europe (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands) through to Australia.

History

BridgeHead Software was founded in 1994 by Charles Anthony Cotterill, its current CEO. The name BridgeHead derives from his intention to provide a bridgehead, or beachhead, for US companies wishing to expand into Europe. BridgeHead started selling proprietary software when it acquired a team of software developers from the now defunct Multistream Systems Ltd in 1999.

Prior to its 100% focus on healthcare organisations, BridgeHead Software offered backup and archiving, horizontally, and still serves its legacy customers in industries such as education, local and central government, advertising and media, telecommunications and even the military.

Previous naming conventions of products include: HT Backup, FileStore, FileStore EHR, MailStore, PACStore, and ShareStore. In the main, these now sit as modules beneath BH MediSafe, BH MediStore and BH OfficeStore.

Ownership

The company is an unquoted limited company. The majority of its shares are held by its employees; the largest shareholder is the CEO although no one person holds an outright majority of the shares.
