football club based in Boston, MA. The Ironsides play in its local union as a division 3 social team; usually retaining around 22 members each season.

Members

Boston Ironsides has a diverse group of players: gay, straight, young, old, experienced, and newbie.

Upon playing their first game for the Ironsides, players are "awarded" their lesbian alter-ego identity. Generally this identity is taken from said player's rugby style (or lack thereof) on the pitch.

History

The Ironsides formed shortly after the 9/11 attacks when American patriotism was at its height.

In May 2006 the Boston Ironsides won the inaugural Bingham Bowl at the Bingham Cup Championship on Randall's Island, New York City.

Press

The Boston Ironsides have been featured in several newspapers over the years. After the 2006 Bingham Bowl win, Boston's newspapers ran several features.
Our closing prayer is borrowed from the Boston Ironsides Gay Rugby Football Club (who just nabbed the Bingham Bowl—congratulations, bitches!). Ahem:

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Gay-Men.
