The nearest part of Switzerland to the English Channel, Boncourt is connected to the S.N.C.F. network by a single track rail, planned to reopen in 2009. During the Second World War Boncourt was a vital staging post for French speaking Switzerland, and the resistance. Boncourt is the first town on the Swiss border when travelling from Paris to Bern via Belfort.
Passengers travelling to Boncourt from Paris today change at Belfort for the optymo.fr hourly connecting bus service to Delle. The cff.ch train runs from Delle at 33 minutes past each hour to Boncourt where it arrives at 36 minutes past the hour continuing to the lake at Bienne.
