On March 12, 2007, Berry Plastics announced it will merge with Covalence Specialty Materials Holding Corporation, a Bedminster, New Jersey based plastics company. The newly merged company will retain the Berry Plastics name and be based in Evansville. The merger was completed on April 3, 2007. With annual sales of $3 billion, it is one of the largest plastic packaging producers in the world.
