The
"USS Bergall". Two United States Navy submarines carried the name of this fish. SS-320 was a diesel submarine, commissioned 12 June 1944 and performed 5 war patrols before retiring out of the war zone for repairs. She was loaned to Turkey in 1958 and later turned over to them. The 13th of the month was often of great importance in her history. She was finally decommissioned in Turkey in 1996. SSN 667 was a nuclear fast attack submarine, commissioned 13 June 1969 and performed many highly classified missions during the cold war. With the 13th of the month also being a notable date of events, she was finally decommissioned in 1996... the sister boats decommissioned the same year! The 13th was not an unlucky date for them, but a date to note... something was probably going to happen that would mark history.
