In 1989, Benjamin de Rothschild set up his own company, the Compagnie de Trésorerie Benjamin de Rothschild (now Compagnie Benjamin de Rothschild SA), specialising in the management of financial risk. He also worked for the Rothschild Group as a banker.

After the death of his father in 1997, he became chairman of the Benjamin & Edmond de Rothschild group, today named Edmond de Rothschild Group
