in a special election on December 19, 2009 and was subsequently elected to a four year term on November 2, 2010.

McAdams is considered one of the most capable Utah legislators for his ability to successfully pass legislation, including innovative legislation to encourage reporting of securities fraud and create enhanced criminal penalties for affinity fraud.

In March 2011, his attempt to propose a bill against workplace discrimination for gays and lesbians was rejected.
