 around 1980. The designer of the Beachcomber was R Hart (of Hart Bros) Whangaparoa, New Zealand. Designer is said to have drowned off east end of Waiheke while young.

Beachcombers have either a fin keel or bilge keels. There are two basic designs—a ply deck and cabin and a fibreglass desk with a flush cabin.
