Jensen's rugby league career came to an end midway through 1982. He played his last game for Illawarra in round 18 and retired due to a neck injury.

Jensen was notorious for being a menace around the ruck. He is regarded as one of the best Hookers of his day. His fall out with Warren Ryan was due to his signing with the newly established Illawarra Steelers. In a very controversial moment Jensen was replace in the dying moments of the final, which arguably cost Newtown a possible win. With their two first rate props out (Steve Bugden and Steve Bouden) Jensen played with two second rated front rowers. The Newtown front row was considered to be the best of that era. Warren Ryan was known for pulling off great players in Grand finals, there was controversy surrounding the interchange of Steve Roach in the 1989 Final against the Canberra raiders. It is a shame the two team didn't meet at full strength

Jensen resides in North Queensland
