History

Barnhill officially opened in August 1970. The two storey block opened in April 1971. Barnhill Primary School is well known for having only three head teachers since its opening. Mr Steele was the first head teacher. He retired in 1983. Mr Johnstone was the second head teacher. The present head teacher is Mrs Pamela Nesbitt. The number of pupils at the school has rapidly increased with the development of new estates being built, such as the Panmurefield Village. In 1996, the addition of the nursery made the pupils at the school roll reaching all-time highs.

. It has a nursery and, for the first time in the 2010/2011 session there are 3 primary seven classes. The school has had new interactive whiteboards fitted in to most classrooms. This mades the school more up to date with technology and helps in the children's learning.
The school runs functions throughout the year. There are normally discos at the end of every term, and a fun day on the 1st Saturday in June
