Throughout late 2005 and early 2006, there was widespread speculation as to whether or not Samorajczyk would run for Anne Arundel County Executive. However, on March 1, 2006, she announced that she would be joining Sheriff George Johnson's (D-Anne Arundel) campaign for County Executive as its environmental advisor. However, just days before the filing deadline for candidates, Samorajczyk filed to run for the Maryland House of Delegates
