As Nobushige was the grandson to the reputed Baba Nobufusa's younger brother, Nobuyori, it can be relatively speculated that Nobushige supported the Takeda initially at the time at which he was eligible for service as vassal, and forthwith supported such a clan by the side of his respective grandfather and uncle.

As the potential feats and variable campaigns that Nobushige may have taken part in are relatively unknown from the time at which he served the Takeda, it is still recorded that he rationally chose to defect over to Tokugawa Ieyasu
