It was designed by noted architect Cass Gilbert

. It was built by Aus Gunvald, an engineer, and the Turner Construction Co.  It reflects Late 19th and Early 20th Century American Movements architecture.

It served as a manufacturing facility and is listed for architectural criteria. The listing was for one contributing building on less than one acre.

It was extraordinary for its use of reinforced concrete
