Ann Fraley, under the name "Auntie Freeze," was one of the premiere female wrestlers of the 1950s. She retired after two decades in the ring to become a trainer, eventually taking on four protégées who would become known as the Grapplers

, to augment the wrestlers’ strengths to superhuman levels. Auntie Freeze sent the original Grapplers (after they were paroled), as well as all of her new clients, to undergo this treatment. Auntie Freeze has since maintained a stable of these women wrestlers collectively as the Grapplers.
