Apexart is a not-for-profit art space in Lower Manhattan
. Founded in 1994, apexart presents exhibitions, host international residents, and publishes books. The apexart exhibition program is generally arranged with three exhibitions organized by invited individuals, two exhibitions selected from the Unsolicited Proposal Program and two exhibitions organized outside of New York
through the Franchise Program. To date apexart has worked with over 1,500 artists from around the world in its exhibition and residency programs. September 2010 marked the publication of apexart’s third book, Playing by the Rules: Alternative Thinking/Alternative Spaces, a collection of essay
