Stockport County Football Club is an English football club based in Stockport, Greater Manchester. The club formed in 1883 as Heaton Norris Rovers, shortly afterwards merging with Heaton Norris F.C., and adopted the current name on 24 May 1890 on the creation of the County Borough of Stockport...

.He was appointed the youngest manager in the country at the age of just 32 having played in the glory days of Stockport County under Danny Bergara, reaching the playoff finals twice and gaining promotion,Kilner was a fans favourite with his exciting wing play and knack of scoring spectacular goals and was later elected into the County hall of fame.
He took over the management position at the club from Gary Megson in June 1999 and remained until November 2001 when he left by mutual consent.Kilner performed miracles in keeping the club in the championship for his tenure despite having the lowest wage bill in the division. The County faithful will long recall some memorable victories under Kilner not least the 2-1 defeat of neighbours and fierce arch rivals Manchester City at Maine Road.He took County to the 5th round of the FA Cup for the first time in 51 years and looked about to achieve the unthinkable and get into the playoffs before having to sell the likes of Kevin Cooper,Tony Dinning,Carlo Nash, and leading scorer Ian Moore.
Kilner joined Sunderland under the Howard Wilkinson regime as part of the backroom scouting team and remained with them when Mick McCarthy took over the reigns in March 2003,he left Sunderland in 2006 after the departure of McCarthy and embarked on a new career as Managing Director of a sports management company where he was the person behind many high profile transfers of football players throughout the world.
Having spent over 25 years in professional football and built up extensive contacts across the globe there are few people who have built up his experience both on the playing side as well as the business side of the game.
