Andrew Ryan is an Australian professional rugby league
footballer for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs of the National Rugby League
. He has also represented Australia and New South Wales and previously played for the Parramatta Eels
. Ryan usually plays in the second row, but can also play Lock.
junior, Ryan made his debut for the Parramatta Eels
against the Brisbane Broncos
at Parramatta Stadium on 11 February 2000 (Round 2). After three seasons with the Parramatta Eels, the Eels were unable to keep Ryan due to the salary cap so Ryan accepted a contract with the Bulldogs for 2003. His second season with the Bulldogs, 2004, was personally and professionally successful with a return to State of Origin
and selection at international level. Andrew Ryan is now the captain of the Bulldogs, succeeding Steve Price who had moved to the Warriors. He is also the only current player in the Bulldogs side from their 2004 premiership victory.
Ryan is also a mainstay of the Australian Kangaroos, appearing in three Tri-Nations series
in 2004
