Amuria is located approximately 44 kilometres (27.3 mi), by road, north of Soroti

Population

The population of Amuria Municipality was estimated at about 6,000 in 2006.
During the first decade of the 2000's, the population of the town has fluctuated from as low as 4,500 to as high as 30,000. There are several factors that have contributed to the rapid increase in the population of the town:

     to steal cattle and harm anyone who attempts to stop them. The villagers in the neighboring villages move closer to town to avoid the wrath of the cattle rustlers
