Early Life

Upadhyay was born in Biratnagar to Janak Prasad Upadhyay and Chandrakumari Upadhyay. . He was a student at Adarsha Vidyala in Biratnagar. He completed his higher secondary education, known as IA at that time, from Benaras, India and then enrolled at Benaras Hindu University where he obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science.
