American Publishers Association(APA) was created in 1901 to maintain the price of copyright books in the American market. After a lawsuit in 1913, the American Publishers Association was disbanded.
On July 8, 1908, the New York Supreme court ruled in favor of the APA in R. H Macy's
& Co. vs American Publishers Association, saying Macy's is not entitled to damages as a result of the publishers not selling books to Macy's.
Its founding members were Charles Scribner

and George Mifflin as Vice Presidents, George Platt Brett, Sr.
