Ambalavanar Neminathan or Colonel Raju, had served as the special commander of the Tamil Tiger elite Leopard Commandos and had played a key role in developing the Tigers’ artillery division , died on 25 August 2002 due to cancer.

He was also the Chief Technical Officer of the Tamil Tiger artillery division as well as the head of Tamil Tigers' Engineering Corps . He was from Elalai, Jaffna District
