The album received mixed to favorable reviews, Absolute Punk placing it at 40%, and Metacritic, 3 stars. Diminuendo, gave the album a 6/11, based on amplifier volume, praising the album's return to their post-hardcore sound, but that "some songs on Am I the Enemy come close to… a slightly more masculine version of Spice Girls."
