Playing career

Walker played university football for Texas A&M. Walker was drafted by the Houston Oilers but was cut at training camp. Walker worked as a teacher and continued to work out. In 1980, Walker moved to Canada to play for the Saskatchewan Roughriders

 but was traded to the Montreal Alouettes before the season began. Walker played two seasons for Montreal, but was traded to Ottawa when Montreal signed David Overstreet

. Walker joined Ottawa in 1982 and played three seasons for Ottawa. In 1983, Walker set the Riders single-season rushing record with 1431 yards.

After retirement, Walker returned to Texas. Walker was a coach and science teacher at Murchison Middle School (Austin, Texas)
