. It is a part of the communauté urbaine Marseille Provence Métropole.
The commune numbered inhabitants at the 2006 census.
It is 12 km away from the center of Marseille, 35 km from Aix-en-Provence.

Urban Morphology

Allauch-Village, the historic center of the commune, contains only a small part of the city's population (2,594 in 2006). The most urbanized other neighborhoods or village centers are: the Logis-Neuf (7,224 inhabitants), La Pounche (3 360 habitants), Fontvieille, Pié d'Autry.

Nonetheless, in reality the urban poles of Allauch join Marseille and Plan-de-Cuques.

Allauch is separated from the urban pole of Mimet by the massif of l'Étoile, resulting in it being necessary to detour to Peypin in order to go from Allouch to Cadolive and then Mimet.
No route links Allauch-Village directly to Aubagne and Roquevaire for they are isolated by kilometers of natural hills of Garlaban which is is thus necessary to circuit.

The entire East side of the commune is made up of a forested massif.
