 and lived in Fez, Morocco. He is the author of Kitab al-nazar fi ahkam al-nazar bi-hassat al-basar and Bayan al-Wahm wa al-iham al-waqi'in fi kitab al-ahkam.

Ibn al-Qattan is presumed to be the father of the historian Abu Muhammad Hasan ibn Ali ibn Muhammad Ibn al-Qattan al-Marrakushi, author of Nazm al-juman.
