Ali Rameez{ dhivehi }{އަލީ ރަމީޒް} was a Maldivian singer. During his journey in his singing career, he performed on stages, produced albums and presented live music, especially in tourist resorts where he entertained holiday-makers. He formed with a music band known as "Freeze band".
He released two albums Goyye in 2000 and Kan'bulo in 2001 which consisted of his own music recorded live; Something that didn't happen in the Maldivian music industry that frequently during those times.
Ali Rameez's family was well known for their singing careers. His sister Raafiyat Rameeza, his brother Mohamed Rashaad, and his brother Ibrahim Rameez also were well reputed vocal artists. Ali Rameez acted with his wife Shenny in a few of his hit songs.
, Rameez became kept a low profile in the media.
Later, he announced in a television interview he gave to TVM
(Television Maldives) that he was renouncing music and giving up singing as a career.
In the interview he is said to have said, "I have been worshiping my fans, which is in fact the biggest sin in Islam
. So I decided not to worship the human beings, but only Allah." He also fruitlessly wrote to the Maldivian government which controls media to ban his songs from being broadcasted.
Along with a few friends and his brother Ibrahim Rameez, Ali Rameez manages a small business in the Capital City (Male') of the Republic of Maldives named Freeze Brand. Its a company that produces, and sells a variety of fish products.
He is now among the best Imams in Maldives. Beautiful voice, great recitation. masha Allah..
