 in February 2008. Akuapim South Municipality lies in the Southeastern part of the Eastern region. It borders Suhum-Kraboa Coaltar in the northwest, Ga West Municipality in the southeast, and Akuapim North District in the northeast. It covers an area of 440 km2 and has a population of 131,031 with a growth rate of 1.4%. It has an undulating topography with two main ecological zones namely the moist semi-deciduous forest and coastal savannah grassland. The municipality consists of six sub-districts: Nsawam, Adoagyiri, Pokrom, Pakro/ Dago, Pampanso and Aburi – with Nsawam
