The main event was initially scheduled to feature Fedor Emelianenko
against Josh Barnett
, but Barnett was forced to pull out ten days before the fight after the California State Athletic Commission denied Barnett a license to fight due to him testing positive for a banned substance. The entire card was later cancelled, citing an inability to find and adequately promote a replacement. Affliction also announced it would cease all fight promoting and would return as a UFC sponsor.
