Abrantee Boateng, known professionally as "DJ Abrantee" is a Radio and TV Presenter, Club DJ and promoter, also the popular voice on the UK’s No.1 Urban Radio Station Choice FM. DJ Abrantee was born in Croydon, UK to Ghanaian parents where he grew up then moved to East London when he was 7 years old. He attended Stratford Secondary School. It was during his teenage years in East London his interest in music was ignited. His cousin who had a sound system called “ Cousin 2 Cousin” introduced Abrantee to his record collection and took him along to the various events to experience DJing. After 3 years of following his cousin around London clubs and venues, his cousin decided to quit the music business and handed all his records to Abrantee. In 2000 he joined a group of Dj’s and street sound named 90%. The collective were responsible for promoting events in London.

2005 – Present: Radio Career

In 2005 Abrantee began his career on radio working the overnights at Choice FM covering for absentees and filling spots as a freelance DJ whilst working the club circuit. In 2006 he was given a Saturday show “Saturdays Choice” which aired once a month. The success of the Saturday Show landed him a permanent position at the station in 2007 to work on the New Early Morning Riser show from 3am to 6am on Monday to Friday. In March 2010 Abrantee was moved to the prime spot on Choice FM to host the weekly evening show from 8pm till 12 midnight. In April 2011 Choice FM announced that DJ Abrantee will host a new Afrobeat Dedicated Show Each Saturday 12am-2am and announced him as the new presenter of the Drive Time Show on Choice FM Broadcasting 4pm - 8pm Monday to Friday. On 16 April 2011 he launched his Afrobeatshow which was one of the most talked about on Twitter gaining the station Choice FM its 1st Trending on Twitter

Entrepreneurial Ambitions

In 2000 DJ Abrantee founded the 1st Official Ghana Independents Event Celebration in London. The 1st event held at Stratford Rex on the 6th March 2000 which saw over 3000 party goers celebrating Ghana’s Independence from the United Kingdom. The annual event hailed as one of London’s most successful and most-attended celebrations of the African nation’s independence. The event moved to the bigger venue at The London’s Indig02 on the 6th March 2011 which had performances from Sunderland football star Asamoah Gyan, Comedy by Eddie Kadi and hosted by DJ Abrantee.. In 2009 DJ Abrantee Launched his TV Show aptly named “The DJ Abrantee Show” The show producers Trinity 7 Group International filmed and produced the show at their London Studio’s Trinity 7 Studios in Burnt Oak. It was 1st show of its kind in the UK showcasing mainstream UK, US and African artists and music videos. In 2011 DJ Abrantee partnered with the production company and launched A7 Productions a TV & Music Entertainment company for Music & Television productions with business partner May7ven. DJ Abrantee along with Alordia, Emmelio and Brother Mylz front the UK's Annual Hiplife and Afrobeats Festival On 3 July 2011 DJ Abrantee launched the first Afrobeats club night at the famous Club merah in Knightsbridge. On the 27th October 2011, DJ Abrantee embarks on the first UK AFROBEATS CLUB TOUR which takes his brand and music on a tour to over 12 cities in the UK & Ireland.

Charity

DJ Abrantee has been involved and lends his support to various charities and fundraising events across the UK including the Croydon based charity ACLT Charity Trust. On 1 May 2010 he took part in the Daniel De-Gale 10k “Marrow-thon” where he ran to raise money for the charity including hosting a number of their events.
