Belkeziz served in various capacities at a number educational and legal institutions as well as government commissions from 1963 to 1977. In 1977, he was appointed Ambassador to Iraq. He returned in 1979 to take up the position of Minister of Information. He was then appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1983. He stepped down in 1985 and returned to academia.
