Abdallah later appeared as a key counsellor of the king, and was prominent as a member of the privy Council and as one of the king's official advisors. In later years he enjoyed the role of influential behind the scenes mediator and respected family elder. Abdallah died in 1977. Many of his sons and grandsons continue to hold high government positions.
