). This was Jones' and Haggard's first album together; their next album together, Kickin' Out the Footlights...Again, would not come until 24 years later in 2006.
Jones and Haggard were largely influenced by the Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell
tradition. The album was produced by Billy Sherrill
and featured the backing vocals of Haggard's wife Leona Williams
. The album also features tributes to the singers, including "Silver Eagle," written by Freddy Powers and Gary Church about Haggard, and "No Show Jones," written by Jones and Glenn Martin and dealing with Jones' notorious inability to arrive at concert dates. The single C.C. Waterback was a top ten hit.
