 and was won by the home state, Western Australia.

It had been seven years since the last championship due to the war and just like with every carnival to this point with the exception of Sydney, the home state finished unbeaten. Western Australia defeated the VFL in their game at Subiaco by five points, with the VFL's Collingwood forward Dick Lee

 missing a set shot 40 metres out in the final minute due to a gust of wind dislodging the ball as he attempted a place kick.
